The Senior Data Architect plays a pivotal leadership role, overseeing the implementation of data architecture processes and controls, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards. This role manages a team of data architects and takes direction from the Enterprise Architect. The Senior Data Architect collaborates with IT and business stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational goals, provides expert guidance on data standards, and manages risks and exceptions effectively. Through strategic leadership, this role enhances data system robustness, compliance, and optimization, driving innovation and improving enterprise data governance.

Some of the great things you’ll be doing:
Data Architecture Oversight:
•    Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data solutions that support organizational objectives.
•    Enforce data architecture policies, standards, and procedures, addressing deviations through appropriate governance and controls.
•    Update and refine data architecture standards to align with evolving regulatory requirements and business needs.
•    Offer expertise on major projects, ensuring alignment with architectural standards.
•    Develop and maintain documentation on data architectures and report on architecture performance and project outcomes.
•    Work closely with business leaders, IT teams, and other stakeholders to define and deliver effective data solutions.

Team Leadership and Development:
•    Build, manage and mentor a team of data architects, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
•    Provide technical leadership and support to team members, fostering skills development and professional growth.

Risk Management:
•    Identify and assess risks associated with data architecture and propose mitigation strategies. Manage and resolve issues, minimizing impact on business operations.

Innovation and Strategy Implementation:
•    Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data technology to drive innovation within the company.
•    Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and approaches for enhancing the data architecture and landscape.
•    Participate in strategic planning sessions, contributing insights from a data architecture perspective.

What we’d like to see from you:
•    Conceptual to physical data modelling; hands-on expertise with relational and non-relational databases.
•    Familiarity with data governance practices, regulatory, and data privacy law compliance such as GDPR or PECR.
•    Proficiency in using cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud) for data storage, processing, and analytics solutions.
•    Strong leadership skills to mentor and guide a team of data architects.
•    Effective communication skills to articulate data architecture strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
•    Familiarity with the implications of AI and machine learning in data architecture.
