The Storage and Messaging team is a cross-functional team of talented and empowered engineers who focus on building high quality, technical solutions for our software engineering community to make using our products easy, and thereby improving their development time and speed to market.  On top of this you will be helping to protect one of the companies most valuable assets, its data! As a Database Administrator (DBA) you will be responsible for database operations and continuous improvement, to provide expert advice and guidance on database management good practice. Driving operational excellence to ensure systems remain highly available, reliable, and resilient.

Some of the great things you’ll be doing:

• Work within the Storage and Messaging team of Cloud Platform, primarily focused on database technologies but also the chance to gain exposure to other technology platforms such S3 and RabbitMQ.
• Have close working relationships with other DBA’s and Cloud Engineers within the team. Adding value by providing 1^st class support to our product teams and enabling their use of our platforms. allowing them to go faster. You will also contribute to the wider Cloud Platform team to ensure delivery of team objectives, providing expert advice for MongoDB. 
• Approach everything from the perspective of the customer and work proactively and reactively to maintain stable, scalable, and secure systems so that great outcomes for our customers can be delivered.

What we want to see from you:

• Expert knowledge of MongoDB (experience with MongoDB Atlas is desirable)
• Good knowledge of BigQuery (desirable)
• In-depth knowledge and application of performance monitoring and tuning, back-up and restore strategies.
• Expert in developing and delivering database good practice.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proven troubleshooting ability
• Good experience of working with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
• Good knowledge of cloud and database security
• Good knowledge of using Infrastructure as Code tools
• Good experience of working in agile environments
• Willing to be part of an on-call team providing 24/7 support.
